Agricultural and Resource Economics
A commitment to discovery, education and service fuels the mission of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, where creative research and scholarship prepares students to responsibly manage the world’s natural and human resources. Students from around the globe are drawn to our specialized areas of study in agricultural economics, resource economics and applied econometrics.
Agricultural Education, Technology and Innovation
Combined knowledge of agriculture, education, leadership, communication, applied science and technology prepares tomorrow's leaders for careers in agricultural education and related businesses and industries. The Department of Agricultural Education, Technology and Innovation offers a variety of programs in formal undergraduate and graduate instruction, research and service designed to improve the quality of life for all people.
Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences
The School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences brings together animal scientists, veterinarians, microbiologists and others to achieve the goal of promoting health in animals and humans. Students enjoy hands-on instruction, robust research opportunities and an integrated approach to animal and human health and disease.
Biosystems Engineering
The Department of Biosystems Engineering develops innovative systems to sustainably feed a population expected to grow to nine billion people by 2050. Students, faculty and community partners explore techniques to optimize growth conditions in a controlled environment, find alternative fuel and feed sources, and irrigate crops while minimizing waste.
Entomology
More than half of the earth’s plant and animal species are insects, and for more than a century The Department of Entomology has educated students and community members about how they affect ecosystems. Faculty members are internationally known for their expertise in insect biology and pest management, and their dedication to science literacy.
Environmental Science
Students in the Department of Environmental Science discover new ways to enhance agricultural production, preserve water quality, manage natural resources and improve our environment. We offer an integrated curriculum that provides a strong foundation in fundamental concepts of physics, chemistry and biology as they relate to environmental applications.
Human Ecology
Developing students into the next generation of leaders, advocates and change agents is how the Norton School of Human Ecology makes a difference in the world. Graduates apply what they learn to strengthen families, individuals, their communities and the marketplace in a culturally diverse and rapidly changing society.
Natural Resources and the Environment
Students, faculty and staff in the School of Natural Resources and the Environment research the world’s toughest environmental challenges and implement solutions to preserve sensitive ecosystems. We provide answers that lead to the sustainable management of natural resources while preparing the next generation of resource managers, scientists and policy makers.
Nutritional Sciences and Wellness
An increased understanding about the connection between food, nutrition, physical activity and healthy living empowers students in the School of Nutritional Sciences and Wellness to improve the health of people in Arizona and beyond. We seek to enhance our knowledge of nutrition and apply what we learn to prevent and treat disease.
Plant Sciences
The School of Plant Sciences is devoted to the study of plants from how they’re grown to how they’re used and how they respond to their environment, especially in semi-arid and arid regions. Students take part in research to uncover ways to genetically improve plant materials, mitigate plant disease, improve food safety and optimize plant growth.
